Rosemead's 7th-Annual Moon Festival kicked off the fall season on Saturday, Sept. 23, with cultural performances, tasty food, a variety of merchandise, vendors and activities. The city's festival — 'a day of reunion' — took place on Valley Boulevard, between Walnut Grove and Ivar Avenue. The event is part of an array of moon festivals throughout the San Gabriel Valley happening into next week. The Mid-Autumn Festival is also called the Mooncake Festival or the Moon Festival. Dating back more than 3,000 years in China, this popular festival is celebrated by many Asian cultures at the end of the harvesting season.
